The Ghanaian student was selected as a member of the Homecoming Court at Michigan State University (MSU), a recognition associated with student achievement, leadership and involvement in campus life.

Benjamin Nketsiah celebrates Michigan State University honour
Nketsiah is a student in Michigan State University's College of Natural Science and Honors College. His selection to the Homecoming Court adds to the academic recognition he first received in Ghana as a member of PRESEC's championship-winning quiz team.
According to his announcement, Homecoming week began on October 5, bringing a memorable moment during his final year at the institution.
In his Instagram post, Nketsiah wrote:
"On October 5, Homecoming week began—and my final year at MSU brought a moment I’ll always treasure: the honour of being selected as a member of our Homecoming Court. Grateful to God, my Spartan community, and everyone who has made this journey possible."
He signed off with “Go Green!”, a rallying cry associated with Michigan State University, alongside the Ghanaian flag emoji.
The Homecoming Court is a student recognition tradition at American universities. At MSU, the court includes selected students recognised for their contributions to the university community.
From Ghana's NSMQ champion to Michigan State University
Nketsiah first gained national recognition in Ghana in 2020 when he was part of the PRESEC team that won the National Science and Maths Quiz.
The NSMQ is one of Ghana's best-known secondary-school academic competitions, testing students' knowledge of science and mathematics. Its annual contest attracts considerable attention from schools, alumni and the wider public.
PRESEC's victory helped raise the profile of the students who represented the school, including Nketsiah.
He later pursued higher education in the United States, studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University. His selection to the Homecoming Court represents recognition beyond his earlier success in the academic competition.
The honour also highlights the role students can play in university life outside the classroom through their involvement in campus communities as reported by YEN News.
