The NBA regular season is almost here, with the Boston Celtics taking on the Detroit Pistons in just a week, on Oct. 20 in Detroit.
There's a lot of hope that the Celtics will be the team they typically are, though there are many questions this season compared to years past.
With Jaylen Brown gone and Paul George here, and other roster decisions to make, the Celtics still have a chance to be an elite team, even with everything that's happened.
The Celtics also have a few smaller roster decisions to make, including one involving their two-way contracts.
According to the latest report, Devin Carter, the Sacramento Kings' lottery pick during the 2024 NBA Draft, is currently viewed as the most likely player to get that deal.
“As of now, it appears guard Devin Carter has the best shot at that two-way contract. Carter has been sick recently, which is poor timing considering he’s playing for an open roster slot. But he impressed in the win over the Cavaliers last week, finishing with 17 points and showing some impressive flashes offensively,” Souichi Terada wrote.
Carter, who starred at Providence, is an interesting player to evaluate.
With the Kings last season, he had moments when he looked decent, but for the most part, he couldn't develop a three-point shot and never really got his footing, appearing in 38 games and averaging only 18.4 minutes per night.
Still, at 24 years old and a recent lottery pick, with some history in the New England area from attending Brewster Academy in New Hampshire and Providence in Rhode Island, there's reason to believe he could fit in Boston.
While the Celtics will have some tough decisions to make, he feels like a fair candidate to win that job.
