Clint Eastwood, 96, on old age: "Every time someone tells me I’m too old to do something, I try to do it immediately"'

In 2018, during a conversation between Clint Eastwood and country music singer Toby Keith while they were playing golf, the 96-year-old actor and director spoke about old age and the passage of time, noting that it is something he always finds himself fighting against.

At one point in the conversation, the legendary performer referred to all those who have questioned his ability due to his advanced age, stating: "Whenever someone tells me I'm too old to do something, I try to do it right away".

And, as he explained, age is a good thing that should not be feared: "As you get older, you have more experience, you have more resources...". Something he keeps in mind every day: "I get up every morning and don’t let the old man in".

The legendary career of Clint Eastwood with his retirement still up in the air

Born in San Francisco, California, on May 31, 1930, Clint Eastwood has appeared as an actor in some of the most famous films in history, such as ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ and ‘The Bridges of Madison County’. But as a director he also has an extensive career, taking part in many of his productions, such as ‘Million Dollar Baby’, ‘Million Dollar Baby’ and ‘Gran Torino’.

The final stage of Eastwood's career has been one of the most astonishing displays of longevity in film history. He released ‘The Mule’ in 2018, shot at the age of 88, repeating at the age of 91 with ‘Cry Macho’ (2021), starring in both.

However, his definitive farewell came with ‘Juror No. 2’ (2024), a legal thriller he made at 94, bringing his career to an end, in principle, according to several American media outlets, since you never know if he might return at any moment, because in his last interview, for Metrograph, he stated: “That’s for the public to answer (his retirement). For people on the outside. I simply go with the flow.”
