The meeting signals growing momentum among opposition figures seeking to build a united front before the 2027 general election.
Sifuna, who heads the Linda Mwananchi movement, announced the engagement through a post on X, saying the two Kirinyaga leaders had visited his office to explore how the opposition could strengthen itself and restore what he described as democratic governance.
"Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina and Senator Kamau Murango are solid people. But you already knew that. They stopped by the office today to share thoughts on what we must do to unite the country and especially the opposition, for us to return our nation to democratic governance in 2027," Sifuna wrote.

He signed off with the phrase "Mbele kuzuri," an expression of optimism, though he stopped short of disclosing any concrete agreements arising from the discussions.
Opposition Figures Push for a Single 2027 Candidate
The meeting comes as pressure mounts on opposition leaders to coalesce around a common presidential candidate to take on President William Ruto in the next election.
Maina has been among the most vocal proponents of unity, previously calling on Sifuna, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and Eugene Wamalwa to subordinate their individual ambitions to a shared political goal.
"The Kenyan citizens have spoken. They want us to stop infighting. Our enemy is common, and all we want is one candidate to face him in 2027," Maina said at a recent political rally.
Murango has similarly positioned himself as a bridge-builder within opposition circles, publicly backing Sifuna and other leaders during periods of political friction.
What the Meeting Does and Does Not Establish
The gathering brings together politicians from Nairobi and the Mount Kenya region at a moment when cross-regional opposition alliances are attracting considerable attention.
However, neither Sifuna, Maina, nor Murango has announced any formal agreement following the talks, and the meeting does not, on its own, confirm whether discussions touched on presidential or deputy presidential nominations.
How the engagement feeds into a broader coalition-building effort remains to be seen, as opposition leaders continue to navigate competing interests ahead of the 2027 polls.
