The KSRTC operated a total of 25 buses from Mangaluru and Udupi on the first day of the 10-day Dasara Darshan tour package, which commenced on Sunday. As many as 23 buses ran on the five tour packages offered from Mangaluru, while two buses operated on the two packages offered from Udupi.
The KSRTC is operating the tour package from Mangaluru and Udupi for the fifth successive year. A total of 1,128 passengers travelled in these buses on Sunday.
The highest of 295 passengers travelled in the six buses of the Kollur package from Mangaluru that covered visits to temples namely Kollur Mookambika, Uchhila Mahalakshmi temple, Kapu Mariyamma temple, Kamalashile Durgaparameshwari temple and Mandarthi temple.
As many as 245 passengers travelled in five buses of the Sringeri package, which was a new package offered this year. This package covered visits to Sringeri Sharadamba, Hosanadu Annapoorneshwari temple, Hariharapura Mutt and Kigga Rishyashringa temple.
A total of 240 passengers travelled in the five buses of the Singandhur package that involved visits to Singandhur Chowdeshwari temple and Kollur Mookambika temple. In the three buses of the Talacauveri package, a total of 147 passengers travelled, involving visits to Puttur Mahalingeshwara temple, Talacauveri temple, Bhagamandala, Triveni Sangama and Raja Seat. A total of 130 passengers travelled in three buses of the Kateel package that involved visits to temples in and around Mangaluru.
From Udupi, a total of 43 passengers travelled in the bus on the Sringeri package that involved visits to Kodyadka Annapoorneshwari temple, Sringeri Sharadamba temple, Rishyashringeshwara temple, Hariharapura Mutt and Perdoor Ananthapadmanabha temple. Twenty-eight passengers travelled in the bus on the Kollur package that involved visits to Neelavara, Mandarthi temple, Kamalashile temple, Sowkooru Durgaparameshwari temple, Kollur Mookambika temple and Maranakatte Brahmalingeshwara temple.
The KSRTC Mangaluru has made use of new BS-VI fleet buses for the tour package. Devotional songs were played in these buses during the travel.
The movement of buses from Mangaluru for this year’s tour package started between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. after pooja at the Mahaganapati temple in the KSRTC bus terminus on Sunday. Mangaluru Divisional Controller Rajesh Shetty and other KSRTC officials were present.
