With the White House briefing room podium left empty again, following Katie Zacharia's departure after five days as Press Secretary, attention turns to her potential replacement.
Conservative commentator and part-time adviser to President Donald Trump, Laura Loomer, put herself forward as a potential candidate in the hours after news of Zacharia's departure broke.
"Hear me out: Press Secretary Laura Loomer," she posted to X Friday.
After former press secretary Karoline Leavitt left the role earlier in the summer, a few different candidates were floated, including CNN commentator Scott Jennings, and current White House Communications Director Steven Cheung.
Prediction market Kalshi showed Anna Kelly, who already works within the White House communications team, as the leading potential contender, alongside Jennings and conservative author and model Elizabeth Pipko.
