LEXINGTON, KY ― Vanderbilt football running back Evan Hampton was taken to the locker room on a cart due to an apparent injury during the first quarter of its matchup with Kentucky at Kroger Field.
It was not immediately clear what Hampton's injury was or how he suffered it.
Hampton, a freshman from Owensboro, Ky., has seven rushes for 18 yards this season. He made his first catch of the season against the Wildcats (6-1, 4-1 SEC) in the Oct. 24 matchup but lost one yard on that catch. He has also been used as a kick returner, having four returned kicks for 70 yards this season.
Hampton was a 4-star recruit and was the 2025 Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year.
The Commodores (3-4, 0-4) took a 3-0 lead by kicking a field goal during the first quarter.
