How is the team doing?
“Tired, but they won't be tired tomorrow. Today, I think, and from what I've seen in the medical department, they're a little tired, but tomorrow we'll be fine. We also have some very good options if we decide to make changes and freshen up the team. Sevilla are a great team and always compete away from home. Luis García is doing a great job. It will be a very difficult match, but we want to win”
What do you ask of your midfielders?
“To be midfielders. Someone who only defends is a limited midfielder, and someone who only attacks is better off not playing in midfield, but out wide or as a false nine. It's a very difficult position to play. To be a top player you need to have a lot of qualities. It's very difficult to be a good midfielder”
Tebas's comments
“I don't want to talk about this. There are limits, and then there are limits. He has ventured into territory... the only excuse would be if he were a clinical case; otherwise, there is no excuse. I don't want to go down that road. Madrid fans understand what Real Madrid are up against. Even for the enormous prestige the league enjoys abroad, because we are the reigning world champions, because LaLiga has the biggest club in the world... it's better that we try to keep this here and not let it spread abroad”.
Arda Guler
“He works hard. I think you find it very difficult to give hard work any merit or credit. It seems that the most negative things have someone responsible for them, while the positive things are down to luck. Arda is a very talented player, as we all know, who is not yet, fortunately, the finished product. He is a player with the attributes to play in different positions and be versatile. I'm very happy”.
Vinicius
“I'm curious: are people interested in what time we arrive at Valdebebas? And when we leave? It's funny. Vinicius had a very difficult game. For me, the person most responsible for Vinicius's difficult game was Gasperini, because he threw everything at us down his flank. He put Wesley, Soulé and Mancini up against Cucurella and Vinicius. It was very difficult for me as a coach to make changes, because some information gets through to them properly and some doesn't. In the second half, Roma ran out of steam and things changed. What bothered me was the nature of the second goal, when the game was evenly balanced and we weren't having any problems. He shouldn't have done what he did, but that's it, it's no big deal. I made five substitutions, not just one. Substitutions are part of football. Vinicius has to work harder, and without promising anything, because I don't like making promises, I think he'll start on Wednesday. As for the four-match ban, I'm happy because they were going to give him more. I thought those lurking in the shadows would give him another game or two”
How do you manage Vinicius's personality?
“He's an incredible guy, and it's easy to have a good relationship with him. I spend a few minutes alone with him every day. I really like him; he's fantastic. I give him enormous credit because he always manages to live and survive with a smile. If I were in his shoes, I probably wouldn't be here. I would have forced a move to a country where he would be respected, but he stayed because he is a Madridista and loves the club. He believes things can improve and keeps smiling. Nothing and no one can take that away from him”
