The Akoni Obirin of Yorubaland and Ogun State Iyaloja-General, Alhaja Yemisi Abass, has described marriage as a divine institution for promoting peace, orderliness and stability in society.
Speaking in Abeokuta at the wedding reception of Joshua Awoniyi and Christian Ojewunmi, Abass urged them to build their home on love, tolerance, mutual understanding and prayer.
She noted that marriage, like childbirth and graduation, was a significant milestone that brought joy to parents.
The fathers of the couple: Tokunbo Ojewunmi, and Olasiji Awoniyi, advised them to embrace patience, trust and peaceful conflict resolution, and settle disagreements amicably through mutual respect, understanding and sacrifice.

Earlier, in a release by the Zonal Information Officer of Yewa North Local Government Area of the state, Later Akintunde, the minister in charge of Antioch Baptist Church, Bode Olude, Abeokuta, Reverend Oluwarotimi Afuape, described marriage as a sacred union that must be protected and nurtured.
Afuape encouraged the couple to make prayer a regular feature of their home, stressing that faith, love and mutual understanding would help them overcome life’s challenges.
“The home must be peaceful for there to be tranquillity in society. The couple must learn to protect their marriage, make their home a place of prayer and resolve their differences with understanding. Divorce is not God’s plan for marriage,” the cleric said.
