Colombo, Oct. 22 (Daily Mirror) - Heavy showers exceeding 100mm are likely in several provinces and districts tomorrow as the influence of a low-pressure system near Sri Lanka is expected to persist, despite the system moving westward away from the island, the Department of Meteorology said.
In its weather forecast issued at 4.00 p.m. today (22), the department said showers or thundershowers would occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Anuradhapura and Galle districts.
Heavy falls exceeding 100mm are likely at some places in these areas.
Showers or thundershowers are also expected in other parts of the island after 1.00 p.m., with fairly heavy falls exceeding 75mm likely at some places.
The public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions are also expected at some places in the Central and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.
