Antonio Conte might be one of the leading candidates for the Manchester United job, but Eddie Howe still enjoys bigger odds.
After sparking a mid-season resurgence upon his January takeover, Michael Carrick was entrusted with a permanent role.
But nine games into the new campaign, the 45-year-old already finds himself in a precarious position, having only registered two wins across all competitions.

While the board remains behind Carrick, various reports from England and Italy have been linking Conte with the Man Utd hot seat.
Members of Conte’s entourage have reportedly expressed his desire to open a dialogue with the club.
According to Oddschecker, the Italian tactician’s odds to take over at Carrington have soared in recent hours.
However, the former Juventus, Chelsea, and Spurs head coach remains in second place, with Howe leading the charts.
The 48-year-old Englishman has been unattached since making his surprise exit from Newcastle in the summer.
The source believes that if INEOS decide the wield the axe on Carrick’s tenure, Howe would have a 33% chance of taking over.

After successful spells at Bournemouth and Newcastle, Howe has cemented himself as one of the most respected English managers of his generation. Jurgen Klopp had praised his ‘exceptional’ work.
The Amersham native is also available, unlike Fabian Hurzeler, who might be the preferred option for many fans and observers, but may not be willing to abandon Brighton in the middle of the campaign.
Julian Nagelsmann is another relatively young German tactician on the list. But while the latter had landed two major jobs (Bayern Munich and Germany), both ended on a sour note.
So between his previous exploits in the Premier League and his current availability, it is easy to see why Howe is the favourite for the role.
However, he would have to ward off competition from Conte, who has a much bigger resume, but could also be a candidate for other top jobs across Europe.
