The Dallas Mavericks hosted the New Orleans Pelicans at American Airlines Center on Wednesday, hoping to notch their second win in the preseason.
The Mavericks were coming off a two-game series against the Houston Rockets in China. Dallas and Houston split their international face-off.
Against the Pelicans, Moussa Cisse suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter. He was ruled out for the rest of the contest, according to The Stein Line’s Marc Stein.

“I’m told the Moussa Cisse ankle injury is not regarded as serious, but the Mavericks have opted to have him sit out tonight’s second half as a precaution,” wrote Stein on X.
Cisse finished with eight points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and three blocks in 16 minutes.
He started the game with Max Christie, Naji Marshall, Zaccharie Risacher, and PJ Washington.
The 24-year-old Cisse is in his second year with the Mavericks. Last season, he averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 13.9 minutes in 38 games. He could see increased minutes this season, playing behind Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II.
Dallas picked up Cisse after going undrafted. In July, the team re-signed him to a two-year contract.
Born in Guinea before moving to New York as a teenager, he had quite the journey before landing in the NBA. In high school, he played for St. Benedict’ Prep in New Jersey, Christ the King in New York, and Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis. In college, he suited up for Memphis before transferring to Oklahoma State and then Ole Miss. He returned to Memphis for his senior year.
As of this writing, the Mavericks are trailing the Pelicans in the fourth quarter.
