Kenya has confirmed its third Ebola case, with health authorities reporting that the latest patient is a 65-year-old woman who is related to the country’s first two confirmed cases.
The woman had been in quarantine since October 6 before developing symptoms, including fever, a sore throat and fatigue, according to the Health Ministry.
According to Africanews, Kenya recorded its first Ebola case last week when a 40-year-old businessman died on October 5 after travelling from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
A second case involving another relative was confirmed days later, prompting authorities to intensify contact tracing and quarantine measures.
The ministry said 127 of the 130 identified contacts had been traced and quarantined, while efforts were continuing to locate the remaining three.
Authorities said the risk to the general public remained low, adding that there was no evidence of community transmission.

The cases have raised concerns about the potential spread of the virus across East Africa, particularly given the ongoing outbreak in the DRC.
The outbreak has reportedly infected more than 9,000 people and caused over 4,300 deaths.
The outbreak involves the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, for which there is currently no specific approved vaccine or treatment.
