Daraz Bangladesh's women-focused employee community, dWomen, marked International Breast Cancer Awareness Month with "Pink Day", bringing colleagues together in pink to show solidarity with people affected by breast cancer and highlight awareness and early detection.
The initiative involved both women and men, emphasising that breast cancer awareness is a shared concern requiring wider participation, according to the press release.
Launched in mid-2024, dWomen aims to create a more inclusive, supportive and empowering workplace for women. Its activities focus on professional growth, leadership, wellbeing and workplace safety, while providing opportunities for women to connect, learn and support one another.
Daraz said women's empowerment was a core commitment. Through dWomen, it has introduced initiatives covering employee recognition, mentorship, career development, workplace facilities, flexible work arrangements and women-focused engagement activities.
Pink Day extended that commitment to women's health by encouraging conversations about breast health and the importance of timely action.
Sumia Rahman, director of general operations at Daraz Bangladesh, said, "dWomen was created with the belief that supporting women should be part of our everyday workplace culture. Through Pink Day, we wanted to create space for an important conversation around breast health and early detection. When women have access to the right information and feel comfortable speaking about their health, they are better prepared to take timely action and share that knowledge with others."
As part of the initiative, dWomen will host a dedicated breast cancer awareness session for Daraz's female employees on 19 October.
A medical professional will discuss warning signs, preventive awareness, the importance of timely consultation and practical guidance on breast self-examination.
The session aims to make conversations about breast health more open, informed and comfortable. Participants will be able to ask questions directly and share what they learn with their families and communities.
Daraz said Pink Day and other dWomen initiatives reflected its efforts to strengthen a workplace culture that supports women's careers and overall wellbeing.
