Russia’s Foreign Ministry has accused Japan of using journalists to gather information aimed at undermining Russia’s security.
TASS reported on Tuesday night, October 13, that Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, made the allegation.
According to the report, Zakharova claimed that Japan relies on journalists working on Russian territory to obtain information intended to undermine Russia’s security.
“Tokyo’s attempts to use its own journalists stationed in Russia and holding foreign journalist status to collect information aimed at undermining our country’s security are regrettable,” she said.
Meanwhile, since Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine, tensions have increased between Moscow and countries that support Ukraine or have condemned Russia’s invasion.
