Australia appoints Dr Derek Bopping as ambassador for cyber affairs, AI and critical technology, replacing Jessica Hunter after just one year in the role.
Australia has rotated its ambassador for cyber affairs, artificial intelligence and critical technology just a year after its previous appointment to the key military and trade diplomatic post, with Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong naming Dr Derek Bopping as the successor to the key post to replace Ambassador Jessica Hunter.
In an announcement circulated on Saturday, Wong’s office said that “Bopping’s leadership in building cybersecurity partnerships across government and industry equips him to advance Australia’s strategic interests and strengthen international cooperation on cyber, AI, and critical technology.”
