GameCentral recaps the most significant new GTA 6 details you may have missed in the last month, ahead of the game’s November launch.
Back when Rockstar formally announced GTA 6 in 2023, with a vague 2025 release window, it still felt like an eternity away. That feeling was only exacerbated by the game being delayed twice and Rockstar’s refusal to share any firm info.
We do not live in that time anymore. As of today – October 19 – GTA 6 is set to launch in exactly one month’s time and Rockstar has been more open about sharing gameplay details in recent weeks.
With the release of GTA 6’s launch trailer, official updates on the game will likely go dark until after it comes out on November 19. So, for any latecomers who’ve not been obsessing over the GTA 6 news cycle, here’s a recap of the most significant details since the big Netflix preview.
Rockstar wants you playing GTA 6 on PS5
Although GTA 6 is also available on Xbox Series X/S, we wouldn’t blame anyone for assuming it’s a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Sony and Rockstar have clearly signed some kind of marketing deal, as most promotional material emphasises that the game plays best on Sony’s console.

Although, Sony hasn’t explained why that is, beyond GTA 6 making use of the PlayStation 5 controller’s haptic feedback and the adaptable triggers. In fact, the game is still locked to 30 frames per second, even on PlayStation 5 Pro.
PlayStation fans do have the option to purchase one of two GTA 6 themed controllers, though, whereas Xbox so far isn’t getting anything extra beyond the game itself.
It’s no wonder it’s presumed that most GTA 6 pre-orders are for the PlayStation 5 version, even if Xbox has insisted otherwise.
Only one actor has announced they’re in GTA 6
While Rockstar has namedropped plenty of famous musicians who are lending their talents to GTA 6’s soundtrack, like Travis Scott and Keith Richards, it’s been far more secretive about the game’s actors, including whoever are playing leads Jason and Lucia.
All of GTA 6’s cast must be on tenterhooks, waiting for approval to brag they’re part of the most anticipated video game ever, though one let the cat out of the bag early.
Stephen Root, who you’ll recognise from shows like King Of The Hill and Widow’s Bay, was widely speculated to be playing the role of supporting character Brian Heder and he openly admitted to it when asked.
‘There are too many people who knew me from King Of The Hill and my voice! So I think that secret kind of got divulged then,’ said Root.
Rockstar is known to have very strict NDAs for its voice actors but if it was upset about Root’s comments, it never showed it, though no other GTA 6 actors have stepped forward since.
GTA 6 multiplayer is reportedly coming next year
One of the biggest questions surrounding GTA 6 is what Rockstar has planned for its online multiplayer. GTA 5’s online mode has been too successful for GTA 6 to not follow suit, but will GTA Online 2 be a continuation, a replacement, or something entirely new?
It looks like Rockstar won’t be commenting on it until after GTA 6’s launch, but the CEO of Twitch, Dan Clancy, claims to have had conversations with Rockstar and is confident the multiplayer will arrive in 2027.
The multiplayer is also rumoured to have a focus on user-generated content that you can make money from, perhaps akin to platforms like Roblox.
GTA 6 collector’s edition doesn’t include the game
Aside from the base game, an Ultimate Edition with extra content, and the soundtrack, Rockstar is also selling a collector’s edition of GTA 6 for £349.99.
For that price, you get a fancy box full of exclusive merchandise not available anywhere else, but it doesn’t come with a copy of the game, meaning you’re still expected to pay at least £69.99 on top of that.
This hasn’t sat well with some fans, especially when it was discovered that some influencers received a completely different and more appealing selection of merchandise.
GTA 6’s huge map is packed with things to see and do
Rockstar has promised that GTA 6’s map will be twice as large as GTA 5’s, which means it should be even more detailed and jam packed with side content.
Some examples include base jumping, billiards, gyms, kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving, street and off-road racing, air boating, and jet skiing.
The map will also be filled with not just loads of humans milling about, but 170 types of wildlife too, which can be encountered in the wilderness as well as zoos.
As a reminder, GTA 6’s setting of Leonida is heavily based on the state of Florida, which is also home to theme parks for the likes of Disney and Universal. Sadly, Rockstar has ruled out any explicit parodies of these parks.
GTA 6 will have sex scenes and nudity
GTA has always been for mature audiences but, barring an unfinished minigame that very nearly got Rockstar in serious legal trouble, it’s never had any truly explicit sex scenes.
That will change with GTA 6 as age ratings for the game confirm the presence of sex scenes, though it’s unclear if these will be relegated to cut scenes or if there’ll be a gameplay mechanic for them.
There are also mentions of unspecified ‘sexual fetishes,’ alongside drug use, which will be a mechanic since you can carry cocaine in your inventory and snort it during gameplay.
Non-sexual nudity is expected as well, with an already infamous nudist town having been leaked. All of which is bound to wind up some people and could yet see GTA 6 being pillorised by the tabloid press and politicians.

GTA 6 brings back radio stations and adds podcasts
Radio stations have been a recurring element in the GTA games so it’s no surprise GTA 6 is bringing them back, so you can enjoy listening to some music and political satire while driving around.
In a first for the series, though, there will be dedicated podcasts too and if you buy a pair of earphones, you can keep listening to your favourite radio shows while on foot.
GTA 6’s PC release may be sooner than you think
A PC port of GTA 6 is inevitable even without an official confirmation from Rockstar, so some people are fighting the pressure to grab the game ASAP on consoles.
According to the latest reports, that wait may not be that long as the PC version is allegedly aiming to launch in the first quarter of 2027, which would be the January to March window. It could potentially launch to coincide with the online multiplayer as well.
