BRADFORD City manager Michael Duff says the club will assess striker Stephen Humphrys on Thursday morning after he suffered a back spasm in Tuesday night’s 0-0 League One draw at Burton Albion.
The ex-Barnsley frontman, who made an impressive first league appearance from the bench in 2026-27 in Saturday’s victory over Stevenage at Valley Parade, lasted just 15 minutes after coming on for Jake Beesley in the 62nd minute.
Duff said: "We took a short corner and he planted his foot to try and hit a shot and just felt a back spasm.
"I thought it was because I was shouting at him to run back but that’s not why he came off. I said to him that he might hear that quite a lot from me!

"With spasms, it’s difficult to predict. It can relax and settle really quickly.
"He’s not trained today, he’s getting treated so we’ll get him assessed tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Duff says that key wing-back Josh Neufville is making progress in his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury.
The former AFC Wimbledon man has not featured since the triumph at former club Luton Town on September 19.

Duff, whose side visit Oxford United this coming weekend, said: "He (Neufville) is on the grass today.
"He’s not with us but he’s getting closer and closer.
"We think the Leicester game might get called off (in the November international break) and there are a couple of cup games before that.
"He probably could be ready for the FA Cup or the York game but then it’s the assessment of the risk-and-reward scenario. There’s a bit of a gap afterwards that gives him an extra couple of weeks.
"He’s progressing nicely. It’s good to see him on the grass, running and opening his legs a little bit today.
"Obviously, that’s the bit you’re worried about with a hamstring injury. But the fact they are starting to expose him to that high-speed running is a real positive.”
