Police in Multan have arrested a contractor accused of running over and killing a 15-year-old boy following a workplace dispute. A court granted suspect Tauqeer Nazir four days of physical remand on Tuesday as police investigate the incident.
The victim, Waseem Abbas, had reportedly left his workplace after alleged mistreatment and threats. Shoaib Haider, secretary of the orphanage where Waseem lived, said the boy wanted to learn electrical work. The orphanage had sent him to Nazir six days before the incident.

According to the police report, Waseem was working for Nazir and another suspect, Amjad Ali. The first information report alleges that both men chased the teenager in a car after he fled. Police said the vehicle struck him near a house gate, causing fatal head injuries.
Rescue officials confirmed that Waseem died at the scene. Police transferred his body to Nishtar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Officers arrested Nazir, while Ali allegedly escaped after the incident. Police also seized the vehicle as evidence.
The case was registered at Multan’s DHA police station under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. These provisions concern murder and acts carried out jointly. The FIR names both men and cites witnesses who reportedly saw Waseem fleeing before the incident.

Haider said the contractor employed around 40 to 45 boys. He also questioned the suspect’s claim that his car had slipped, saying video footage appeared inconsistent with that explanation. However, investigators will need to establish the circumstances and responsibility through the legal process.
Waseem’s relatives and orphanage officials have demanded justice. His uncle, Jafar Hussain, alleged that the teenager was deliberately killed and called for punishment. The family said Waseem’s father had died years earlier, while relatives and the orphanage had helped care for him. Police investigation and court proceedings will determine the allegations against the suspects.
