PUTRAJAYA: No Malaysian companies have so far been identified as being involved in forest-burning activities in Indonesia, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said.
He said the Cabinet had been briefed on the latest developments in the haze situation, including an announcement by Indonesian authorities that action had been taken against 11 companies.

“However, as of now, no Malaysian companies have been identified as being involved in forest-burning activities in Indonesia,” he said at his weekly press conference here today.
Fahmi said Malaysia remained ready to assist Indonesia in tackling forest fires, including by providing firefighting assets if needed.
“The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the strong diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Indonesia and reaffirmed Malaysia’s willingness to provide assistance, including firefighting assets, should they be needed,” he said.
However, he said the Foreign Ministry and the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry (NRES) had yet to receive a full response from Indonesia on the type of assistance it was willing to accept.
“The offer still stands. Malaysia remains ready to provide the necessary assets if they are required,” he said.
