While the Steam Deck used to be the only option, you can now buy portables from other brands with better hardware and more power. The Lenovo Legion Go S is a prime example, powered by an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip that's paired with 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. The retail price of the Legion Go S now sits at $1,580, but it can now be had for much less thanks to its $580 discount, dropping it down to $1,000, or its lowest price of the year.

A price that's easier to afford
RAM and storage prices have continued to remain at an all-time high, which means products using these parts have also seen their prices rise as well. The Lenovo Legion Go S made its debut in 2025, and is still a powerful device even today.
We've talked about the hardware, but a portable gaming machine with an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip and 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM is going to deliver an excellent experience. Plus, you get tons of internal storage at 1TB, which is an absolute must for games.
If you need more storage, you can upgrade the internal SSD with something new, or utilize the device's microSD slot which can handle up to 2TB. The Legion Go S features an 8-inch touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
You get 500 nits of brightness and 100%sRGB color. The battery life can vary, but you can get a few hours of play at the very least. But rapid charging can take it from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes.
For the most part, this is a pretty good device. While the price is a bit steep, you're getting plenty of power under the hood. You can always check out the other options to see what better fits your budget.
