This week, the British royal family is hosting the sultan of Oman for a three-day state visit. They threw a banquet this evening to mark the end of the first day, which Kate Middleton attended with her husband, Prince William. For the occasion, the Princess of Wales had a rare tiara moment, wearing the Lover’s Knot tiara with a flowing yellow gown by Elie Saab.

Kate has often chosen the Lover’s Knot tiara for her banquet appearances. Queen Mary commissioned the piece in 1913, and it contains diamond arches with 19 pearl drops.
Earlier today, Kate attended the formal welcome event for the sultan, wearing a dark green coat by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, her wedding dress designer, with a matching Juliette Botterill hat.
