SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS, Mexico – Chiapas served as a global hub for female coffee leadership this week, hosting the 5th Edition of the International Women in Coffee Summit. The three-day event, held from October 15 to 17, brought together 350 female producers from 26 different countries to foster unity and exchange experiences within the global coffee industry.
The summit, organized by the Women Powered Coffee Summit 2026, was designed as a meeting point for women who produce, transform, lead, and shape the coffee beverage from diverse geographical and cultural perspectives. Participants included a wide range of industry professionals, including producers, roasters, and buyers.
María José Monge and Itzel Mendoza, representatives from Bean Voyage (the journey of the grain), highlighted the importance of the gathering. The summit took place across three key cultural and commercial landmarks in the city: the Centro de Textiles del Mundo Maya, the Histórico Café y Tostador, and the corridors of the Centro Cultural “El Carmen.”
The event underscores a growing movement toward inclusivity in the coffee trade, aiming to bridge the gap between those who cultivate the crop and those who consume it. By providing a platform for women to share knowledge and leadership strategies, the summit seeks to empower the next generation of coffee producers and distributors on a global scale.
