So, Storm Adam is on its way, the anticipated advance impact on Saturday not having materialised during the day. It was quite sunny and there had been no rain by 5.30pm.
Weather stations point to heavy rain at some point on Sunday morning, with the probability of heavy rain continuing all day and on Monday. There are red alerts for rain in parts of Valencia on Sunday (and on Monday), but only yellow alerts for Mallorca are currently in place for Sunday. When first issued, these were from 10am to midnight for all areas. They are now from 12 noon in the south and from 6pm elsewhere - up to 20 litres of rainfall per square metre in one hour. The yellow alerts for the Tramuntana and north/northeast coasts are from 3pm to midnight - waves of three metres. It is expected to be quite windy from the northeast for the whole of the island for much of the day.
On Monday, as things stand at present, rain and thunderstorm alerts which had been issued for the whole day are now up to 6pm. These are yellow everywhere except for a period from 3am to 3pm when they are amber for the south and the east. The alerts for the coasts are due to continue up to 6am Monday.
The forecast is for rain on Tuesday, with an improvement from Wednesday.
