As Director of Sales & Marketing at Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites, Endah shares her journey in hospitality, her vision for the property, and how the hotel aims to become a vibrant destination for Jakarta’s business, lifestyle, and creative communities.
For Endah, hospitality has always been about more than rooms, events, and commercial strategies. With a career spanning nearly three decades, she believes the industry’s true value lies in understanding people, building lasting relationships, and creating experiences that leave a meaningful impression.
As Director of Sales & Marketing at Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites, Endah is bringing this people-oriented approach to the property’s commercial strategy and brand positioning. From welcoming business travellers and leisure guests to hosting creative workshops, cultural gatherings, and community events, she envisions the hotel as more than a place to stay: it is a destination where Jakarta’s diverse communities can connect, discover, and share experiences.
To learn more about the person behind this vision, Indonesia Expat has talked to Endah to discuss her career journey, approach to hospitality, and aspirations for Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites.
Hi, Endah! Let’s start with your background a bit. What can you tell us about yourself?
I have always considered myself a people-oriented person, which is one of the reasons I found my way into hospitality. I have been building my professional career in the hospitality industry since 1998, starting in hotel operations before moving into Sales and Marketing. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with different hotel brands, markets, clients, and teams.
Before joining Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites as Director of Sales & Marketing, I gained experience in various commercial and leadership positions within the hospitality industry, mostly with international 5-star hotel brands. These experiences shaped my understanding that hospitality is not only about selling rooms or venues; it is about understanding people, creating meaningful experiences, building trust, and developing long-term relationships.
Today, as Director of Sales & Marketing at Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites, my role is to lead the property’s commercial strategy while strengthening our positioning across the corporate, government, MICE, social events, leisure, and lifestyle markets.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time mostly with my family and sometimes with friends, travelling, discovering new places, enjoying good food, and simply taking time to recharge. I believe having a life outside the hotel industry is also important because it keeps us connected to the experiences and expectations of today’s travellers.
Can you tell us the precise moment when you realised that hospitality is, indeed, your calling? And is there anyone in particular whom you regard as your mentor in the hospitality industry?
I don’t think there was one single dramatic moment when I realised hospitality was my calling. It happened gradually through the experiences I had throughout my career.
What really attracted me was the dynamic nature of the industry. Every day is different. We meet different people, handle different challenges, create different experiences, and constantly have opportunities to learn.
One of the things that I love most about hospitality is that the results are very humane. When a client tells you that an event went perfectly, when a guest returns because they remember the experience, or when a team member grows professionally, those moments are extremely rewarding.
Throughout my career, I have also been fortunate to learn from many leaders and colleagues. Rather than having only one mentor, I would say that different people have influenced me at different stages of my career. I have learned from their leadership styles, their resilience, their commercial mindset, and, most importantly, how they treat people.
As the property’s Director of Sales & Marketing, what kind of image, vibe, or adjectives do you wish for Jakartans to immediately think of whenever they read or hear the words “Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites”?
I would like people to immediately associate Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites with sophisticated, vibrant, creative, welcoming, and connected.
I don’t want us to be perceived simply as a place to stay. I want Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites to be recognised as a destination where people can meet, celebrate, work, dine, create, and experience something different.
For Jakarta residents, I would like the thought to be “There is always something interesting happening at Mangkuluhur.”
That is the kind of positioning we are continuously working towards.
As the year-end holiday season is approaching, what Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites has prepared to offer to its prospective guests and staycationers?
As the year-end holiday season is about to come, our focus is to continue offering experiences that appeal not only to families, but also to couples, professionals, business travellers, and Jakarta residents looking for a convenient urban escape.
We continue to develop attractive stay and dining experiences, while also connecting our hotel packages with our F&B outlets and lifestyle activities.
For us, a staycation should be more than simply staying in a room. It should give guests an opportunity to slow down, enjoy good food, spend quality time together, and experience Jakarta from a different perspective.
We will also continue to introduce seasonal offers and collaborations, so I would encourage guests and our local community to keep an eye on our social media channels for the latest updates.
Let’s talk a bit about infrastructure upgrades. Does Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites have any plans to improve and renovate any of its existing facilities in the near future? If so, what can you reveal about it at the moment?
We continuously review our facilities and guest experience to ensure that the property remains relevant to the needs of today’s travellers.
As part of this process, we are always exploring opportunities to enhance selected areas of the property, whether through physical improvements, refreshed experiences, or service enhancements.
At this stage, I would prefer not to reveal specific details until the plans are fully confirmed. However, our direction is clear, we want to continuously improve the guest experience while maintaining the character and identity that make Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites distinctive.
The year 2026 is not over yet, but Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites has become the hosting venue for some of the city’s most exciting community events. What future community events can we look forward to, and how do you envision Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites as an event space and venue going forward?
We are very proud of the variety of communities that have chosen Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites as their meeting point.
Events such as MaknaTalks, Flavors of Hungary, Echoes of Harmony, and the LUMIBLOOM calligraphy workshop demonstrate that a hotel can be much more than a place for accommodation. It can become a platform for ideas, creativity, culture, and community.
Going forward, we want to continue welcoming more events that connect people through art, culture, food, wellness, fashion, business, and creative industries.
Our vision is for Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites to become one of Jakarta’s preferred venues for meaningful and curated community experiences not only large scale events, but also intimate gatherings and niche communities.
We want people to feel that there is a genuine sense of discovery whenever they visit us.
For the present and/or near future, are there any promos by Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites specifically aimed at the city’s foreign tourists and/or expatriates?
Jakarta’s expatriate and international community is an important market for us, particularly because of our strategic location and the property’s ability to cater to both business and leisure needs.
Rather than focusing only on room discounts, we are interested in developing experiences that are relevant to international guests from dining and lifestyle experiences to weekend stays, social events, and curated collaborations.
We also see a strong opportunity to introduce international guests to contemporary Indonesian hospitality, food, art, and culture through the ARTOTEL experience.
We will continue to develop specific offers and collaborations for this market, and our social media channels will be the best place to discover the latest promotions and experiences.
Last but not least, how can our readers get in touch with you and Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites?
Readers can connect with Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites through our official social media channels and website, where they can find the latest information about our rooms, dining, events, promotions, and upcoming activities.
For business, MICE, partnership, or event enquiries, our Sales & Marketing team will be very happy to assist.
I would also personally welcome opportunities to connect with companies, communities, creative partners, and event organisers who are interested in collaborating with Mangkuluhur ARTOTEL Suites.
