GEORGE TOWN: A 21-year-old university student was found dead below her hostel block this morning.
The woman was found lying on the concrete ground by a cleaner at 7.25am, police said.
Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad said police received a call from the university at 8.40am about a suspected fall from a building at the university's hostel.
"Initial investigations at the scene found no indications of criminal elements.
"An examination of the body revealed several external injuries believed to have been caused by a fall from a height," he said in a statement.
Rozak said the body was sent to the Penang Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
"Police have classified the case as a sudden death report, and investigations are ongoing," he added.
