New Balance Winterized Its Classic Mary Jane Sneaker

Is it a winter boot? Is it a Mary Jane? Is it a New Balance sneaker? It's a super secret fourth thing: All of the above.

The "Winter Breeze" Mary Jane sneaker is exactly what it sounds like: a winterized version of a classic Mary Jane made with New Balance dad shoe principles in mind.

Suede takes up the majority of the upper, while the outsole folds in some of that beefy, rubbery charm associated with the undercarriage of typical New Balance outsoles. Where things get real nice and cozy is at the insole and foot strap.

Fleece lining turns this strapped-up hybrid shoe into a winter-ready puffer jacket.

Sure, the opening at the upper might seem counterintuitive to any real warming pursuits, but there's no reason a shoe can't get a little cozy with it, even if it is a hop and skip away from being a sandal.

Plus, there's a lot to be said for the practicality of shoes that work in a multitude of climates. Sometimes you need a shoe that can take you from brisk NYC days to sunny Los Angeles evenings. If the UGG boot-and-short-shorts era was ever your jam, this shoe is for you.
