KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) wants to contest the Melaka election under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) logo.
Its president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the party preferred to use the coalition's logo, but would discuss alternatives if necessary.
"If possible, we want to use the PN logo. If not, we will have to sit down again as a team and decide which logo is best for us," he told reporters.
Hamzah said PN had initiated legal action after receiving a notice from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) suspending and subsequently deregistering the coalition on Oct 20.
"When we received the letter from the RoS, we took it to court as quickly as possible.
"That shows we believe the PN logo represents all of us, and that it is our team," he said.
On Oct 22, the High Court granted PN a stay against the RoS action pending the full disposal of its judicial
review, without ruling on the legality of the deregistration.
The ruling allows PN to continue its political activities while the legal challenge is pending.
PN election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor welcomed the decision, saying it would allow the coalition to continue operating pending the judicial review.
Sanusi had earlier said PN was prepared to contest the Melaka polls under the Pas moon logo if it could not use its own.
