By Zoila Palma: Belize Water Services Ltd. (BWS) showcased its innovation in water accessibility at the 35th Annual Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) Conference and Exhibition, where Senior Project Manager Amber Gongora presented the company’s automated water and ice vending machine pilot project in San Pedro.
The initiative provides residents with convenient access to safe and affordable drinking water and ice through an advanced reverse osmosis filtration system. The pilot project aims to improve affordability for island families while offering an accessible option for obtaining drinking water and ice.
Beyond improving access to these essential supplies, the project introduces a sustainable revenue model designed to support future water network expansions and infrastructure development. The approach seeks to connect improved customer access with long-term investment in water services.
