The FSU Seminoles are on their second and final bye of the season as they prepare for their final five games of the season. It has come at a good time for the Seminoles, who have suffered several injuries and need the time to get healthy.
According to a report from Matt LaSerre of Warchant, freshman wide receiver Devin Carter and linebacker Blake Nichelson are both recovering well and could be on the field soon. Carter, who has yet to appear in a game this season, suffered a back and rib injury during the preseason, but was expected to make an immediate impact on offense.
The former four-star prospect is now practicing, and there is "optimism" he could play against the Clemson Tigers on Oct. 31, according to LaSerre. He was one of FSU's top signees in the 2026 recruiting class and would add more depth to the receiver rotation.
Nichelson played in the season opener against the New Mexico State Aggies but has not appeared since. According to LaSerre, he is "trending well for a return to the field soon."
His return could be big for the linebacker room, which has already lost Izayia Williams and Daylen Green for the season and seen several other players go in and out of games with injuries. Nichelson, a senior, had three tackles against New Mexico State.
