Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs strongly condemned on Sunday an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that killed an Egyptian woman and injured five other Egyptian nationals.
The ministry said continued attacks on Saudi territory threatened civilian safety and security.
It identified the woman as Azza Ramzy Mohamed Hassan and said Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, acting on instructions from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, had directed the Egyptian embassy and consulate in Riyadh to contact her family and expedite the repatriation of her body.
Hassan, a 28-year-old flight attendant working for flynas, died from injuries sustained in the missile attack on the Riyadh airport. The attack was attributed to Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement.
Abdelatty also instructed Egypt’s ambassador and consul to visit the five injured Egyptian nationals in hospital, check on their condition, contact their families and provide the necessary assistance.
The ministry said the two diplomats had visited the injured Egyptians and checked on their condition, while the embassy and consulate continued coordinating with Saudi authorities to ensure they received medical care and other necessary support.
The ministry extended its condolences to the family of the Egyptian woman killed in the attack. It also reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of continued attacks on Saudi territory, describing them as violations of international law and threats to civilians of all nationalities.
