Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has revealed his desire to play in La Liga in the future while insisting he remains happy and committed to the Premier League club.
In an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca on Wednesday, the 31-year-old Spain international expressed his openness to returning to his homeland at some point in his career.
Raya, whose contract with Arsenal runs until June 2028, has spent his entire professional career in England after leaving Spain as a teenager.
“Yes, I would love to. I would love to try out LaLiga,” Raya told Marca. “For now, I’m very happy here [at Arsenal], but I would certainly like to experience the Spanish league. I think it’s a very competitive league. Perhaps, in the future, I could play for a Spanish club. I’m Spanish, and I’d love to play there, that’s for sure.”
Born in Barcelona, Raya joined Arsenal from Brentford in 2023, initially on loan before completing a permanent transfer.

He has since established himself as one of Europe’s leading goalkeepers, helping the Gunners win the Premier League last season, claiming a third consecutive Golden Glove award and contributing to their runs in the Champions League and domestic cup competitions.
Raya was also part of Spain’s World Cup-winning squad in the summer, although he did not feature during the tournament.
Reflecting on his recent performances, the goalkeeper described the past campaign as the best of his career so far.
“I believe I’ve had a perfect year. Perhaps the only thing missing was playing in the World Cup. Every year since I arrived at Arsenal, I’ve continued to improve and hopefully that will keep happening.”
Looking ahead, Raya outlined his ambitions with Arsenal, stressing his desire to win major trophies and help the club reach another level.
“My goal is to win everything. We want to establish ourselves as favourites. Hopefully we can go one better this year by lifting the Champions League, but there is still a long way to go.”
