Greek-Australian Jetstar pilot Aglaya Papadokokolakis will captain the first commercial passenger flight from Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport when JQ362 departs for the Gold Coast at 11am on Sunday 25 October 2026. The long-surnamed pilot’s selection highlights Greek-Australian representation in Australian aviation as the new 24-hour airport opens.

Papadokokolakis, whose lengthy Greek surname has drawn attention, appeared on local television ahead of the historic departure. Jetstar is the first airline to begin commercial passenger services from the new airport, with an initial schedule that includes flights to the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Brisbane.
The inaugural flight is expected to be a milestone for Western Sydney travellers and for Greek-Australian representation in Australian aviation.
