On Monday evening, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that contacts were ongoing and that a meeting with American mediators could take place “in the coming days”, perhaps in Norway.
Now US envoy Witkoff is on his way to Oslo, and talks could take place as early as Tuesday, the news site Axios, which often cites informed US government sources, reports.
Zelenskyy will also be in Oslo during the day, the Norwegian government confirms. It says nothing about American visits, but announces that the Ukrainian president will meet with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
According to Axios, the talks on the war will involve Zelenskyy, representatives from the EU and NATO, as well as France, Poland, the UK and Germany. Steve Witkoff is then expected to travel to Russia again for further talks.
