SHANGHAI: Leylah Fernandez defeated Marie Bouzkova in straight sets on Saturday to reach the Ningbo Open final and is one victory away from her second title in as many months.
The Canadian world number 30 won 6-3, 7-5 and will face top-ranked Elena Rybakina or Russia's Diana Shnaider in the championship decider in eastern China on Sunday.
Fernandez won her first title of the year in Singapore last month and had too much for the 26th-ranked Bouzkova of the Czech Republic.
Fernandez needed three sets in her previous three matches in Ningbo to reach the last four.
After dominating the first set Fernandez broke early in the second for a 2-0 lead, only for Bouzkova to hit back as both struggled on their serve.
The second set turned in an arm-wrestle, before Fernandez prevailed in just under two hours when Bouzkova returned long.
Top seed and defending champion Rybakina faces off with Shnaider in the other semi-final later on Saturday.
