Alan Shearer believes Arsenal will beat Nottingham Forest this weekend, despite the Gunners’ recent struggles at the City Ground. The former striker expects Arsenal’s superior quality to help them secure all three points against opponents who are under pressure to improve their results.
Arsenal were unconvincing against Leeds a week ago and will now face a Forest side desperate for points. The hosts need results quickly to ease the pressure on their manager, making this a challenging fixture for both teams.
The Gunners are determined to challenge for the Premier League title again this season, but they must prove their ambitions on the pitch. Manchester City’s form means Arsenal cannot afford to drop unnecessary points if they want to remain competitive in the race for the title.
Arsenal face a difficult test at Forest
Although Arsenal have struggled at the City Ground in recent seasons, Shearer believes they have enough quality to overcome their hosts. The Gunners have shown they can win matches against difficult opponents even when their performances are not particularly impressive.
That ability could prove important this weekend, especially with Forest desperate to turn their fortunes around. Arsenal will need to be focused and clinical, as their opponents cannot afford another disappointing result.
Forest also have reasons to believe they can make the contest difficult. Their recent missed chances have contributed to their problems, and they will need to take their opportunities if they hope to trouble Arsenal. However, Shearer does not expect the home side to claim the result they need.

Shearer backs the Gunners to win
Speaking via the Metro, Shearer discussed Forest’s recent defeat to Crystal Palace and explained why he expects Arsenal to leave with the victory.
“Nottingham Forest got a terrible result last week against Crystal Palace but they missed massive chances. I mean, Liam Delap missed an absolute sitter, as did others and then when that happened, Crystal Palace went up the other end and scored. Then all of sudden you just go flat. Oliver Glasner needs a result, very much like other managers, you need a result when you’re struggling, and Forest are struggling and need a win massively. I don’t see it happening against Arsenal. I think Arsenal will win.”
Shearer’s prediction reflects his belief that Forest’s current difficulties will make it hard for them to overcome Arsenal. The Gunners will aim to justify that confidence by producing a stronger performance than they managed against Leeds.
A victory would help Arsenal maintain their title challenge, while another setback would increase the pressure on Forest to find a response.
