Vente Venezuela’s call to action
Maria Corina Machado’s party provided details on Monday about the march, which seeks to demand the return of its leader.
HAVANA TIMES — From its national headquarters, the Vente Venezuela Party held a press conference on Monday to provide details about the demonstrations scheduled for October 22 in every state across the country.
Speaking on behalf of the organization was national leader Carlos Fernandez, regional coordinator of the party led by Maria Corina Machado. The political organization reaffirmed its call for civic action under the slogan: “Election Day is Liberation Day!”
During his remarks, Fernandez described the severe crisis Venezuela is experiencing:
“Venezuela is going through one of the most difficult periods in its history. We are not only facing persecution, torture, and exile for which the regime is responsible, but we are now dealing with a country plunged into darkness, without water, where our people are dying of hunger. No one had to tell us about it: we are living it ourselves.”
The party leader announced that on October 22, those taking to the streets would include “mothers, teachers, young people who want a prosperous future; all social sectors, the Unity Platform, and all political parties outside that coalition.”
The mobilization has three main demands:
Maria Corina Machado’s return to the country: “Let go of your fear. Maria Corina is coming to unite Venezuela and accelerate the transition.”
An electoral timetable and a presidential election date in 2027: “We are going to have our say at the ballot box, and we are organizing ourselves to elect her.”
Full freedom for political prisoners: “Enough of keeping our brothers and sisters behind bars! Families can no longer endure this.”
Fernandez emphasized that October 22 would be “our spearhead for peaceful mobilization” and endorsed Congressman Bernie Moreno’s proposal to hold the presidential election on July 24, 2027.
“The date of the election is the date of liberation for all Venezuelans,” he stated.
Finally, the national leader of Vente Venezuela reiterated the party’s commitment to stand alongside Venezuelans throughout the country:
“After so much persecution and exile, we will once again take to the streets to demand Maria Corina Machado’s return to Venezuela, an electoral timetable, and full freedom for political prisoners. The election date will unite all Venezuelans so that we can embrace freedom. 2027 is the year of our freedom!”
