Wild video footage captured the moment raging waters tore apart a bridge in Nepal as devastating flash floods ravaged through the Asian nation.
The surging waters pounded the span over the Budhi Gandaki River until the bridge gave way and was washed downstream as floods swept through the Gorkha district over the weekend, footage posted by WABC Eyewitness News shows.
Authorities said at least five people remain missing.
More than 80 people have been plucked from the dangerous currents, while a half-dozen were rescued from the landslide-prone Jagat, Prime Minister Balendra Shah said in a social media post.
The floods mark the second time in two months that Nepal has been hit by devastating natural disasters.
On Aug. 26, an avalanche caused by a collapsing glacier sent a deadly flood roaring from the Himalayas near the Nepalese border with China, killing more than 1,400 people while thousands of others remain missing.
Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, a senior official in the Gorkha district, said in a statement following the latest flash flood that authorities have responded in the region to assist affected villages.
“We have asked villages living along the river banks downstream to evacuate and remain safe,” he said.
