Blockchains like to talk about decentralization. Most of them still send their data over the same public internet you use to stream cooking videos.
DoubleZero wants to change that. The project is building a dedicated network for the high-performance distributed systems that crypto depends on, and it has already signed up a large share of Solana.
Approximately 59% of Solana mainnet stake weight is connected to DoubleZero as of mid-2026. For a network whose mainnet-beta went live less than a year earlier, that is a fast climb.
What DoubleZero actually does
DoubleZero stitches together independently contributed private fiber-optic links into a transport layer designed specifically for distributed systems.
The model is permissionless. Anyone with underused private fiber can plug it into the network.
Contributors are not paid simply for showing up. Rewards are tied to the performance gains their links actually deliver.
The network launched its mainnet-beta on October 2, 2025. The native 2Z token, an SPL token on Solana, debuted publicly the same day.
According to the project’s metrics, the network now carries an aggregate capacity of around 10 terabits per second. Total connected value exceeds $20 billion.
DoubleZero has drawn over 70 links from more than 15 independent providers. Named contributors include Jump, Galaxy and RockawayX, with Cherry Servers among the more recent additions.
The two-layer design
The architecture splits work into two layers. The first sits at the edge and uses field-programmable gate arrays, or FPGAs, to strip out spam and remove duplicate messages before they hit the core network.
The second layer is the dedicated fiber mesh itself. That mesh handles routing and ties into the incentive system that pays contributors.
Tokens, subscriptions and revenue
The 2Z token has a total genesis supply of 10 billion. It is used to pay for network access and to reward the contributors supplying fiber.
DoubleZero also runs a second revenue line. Its DoubleZero Edge subscription service sells low-latency market data feeds, and customers pay in USDC rather than 2Z.
The use cases are spreading beyond basic validator connectivity. The network has expanded into MEV infrastructure and data distribution for prediction markets.
Background: speed has become the battleground
DoubleZero describes itself as chain-agnostic. In practice, Solana has been where adoption took off, driven heavily by the validator community.
The project is now reaching past Solana. In October 2026, DoubleZero announced new peering services for Hyperliquid, another chain where latency is a central concern for traders.
What this means
The most important number here is the 59% stake figure. Once a majority of a chain’s stake runs over a particular network, that network stops being an optional add-on and starts looking like core infrastructure.
The contributor structure spreads links across more than 15 providers and pays them based on measured performance. The USDC-based Edge subscriptions offer a separate revenue signal independent of token sentiment.
