6 p.m. – Nxled vs PLDT (PVL)
IT IS like Godzilla vs. Kong.
Two of the Premier Volleyball League’s (PVL) most feared attackers face off as PLDT’s Savi Davison and Nxled’s Brooke Van Sickle collide in an early clash of the titans in the All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ms. Davison will spearhead the Manuel V. Pangilinan-owned club eyeing its third championship while Ms. Van Sickle will lead a fledgling, LED light-manufacturing franchise eyeing its breakthrough title as they tackle each other at 6 p.m.
Similarly, both squads parade stacked rosters with the PLDT High Speed Hitters brandishing Kianna Dy, Majoy Baron, Mika Reyes, Kath Arado, Kim Fajardo, Jovy Prado, Dell Palomata and Leila Cruz while the Nxled Chameleons have MJ Phillips, Myla Pablo, Gel Cayuna, Jonah Sabete-Escamillan, Jacqueline Acuña, Lyann De Guzman, Chiara Mae Permentilla and EJ Laure.
Nxled will be coming into the game riding the crest of its historic runner-up finish in the Invitational behind eventual winner Est Cola of Thailand a month ago.
It included a straight-set win over PLDT.
What made it more impressive though was the Chameleons were minus Ms. Van Sickle, who sat out due to shoulder issues.
But the two-time champion and three-time MVP should be back and ready to roll.
Also launching their campaign are Farm Fresh and Galeries Tower, which battle each other at 1 p.m.
In the Spikers’ Turf, it will be Criss Cross versus the Armed Forces of the Philippines at 3:30 p.m. — Joey Villar
