Shillong, Oct 20: Senior BJP leader and Pynthorumkhrah MLA AL Hek on Tuesday said he does not see any change in the state government and that he is not keen on becoming a minister in this term.
The reaction comes in the wake of BJP’s tally in the Assembly rising from 2 to 10 after eight former UDP MLAs joined the party.
On being asked if he would be inducted into the cabinet, Hek said it is the prerogative of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
“I don’t see any change in the government, but that all lies in the prerogative of the Chief Minister,” he said.
Hek categorically denied that he wants a ministerial berth.
“I clearly say now, I don’t want to be in this ministry for this term. We will see in the upcoming 2028 elections, after that only we will decide,” he said.
He further stated, “Even if I am offered induction into the ministry, I will not take it. I want to remain as I am and continue to fight to strengthen the party organisation. That is my intention.”
