GTA 6 on Switch 2: Studio that ported Red Dead Redemption is working on ‘high profile project’

In less than a month, PS5 and Xbox Series owners will get to experience GTA 6. PC players will have to wait longer, but it looks like Nintendo Switch 2 owners may eventually get to play it as well. That’s just conjecture at this point, but drawn from a few signs that show hope for GTA 6 on Switch 2.

Nintendo fan account TR NintendoBu on X shared that Double Eleven studio is looking to fill two positions: Lead Programmer and Principal Low-Level Graphics Programmer. Double Eleven is the same studio that ported the original Red Dead Redemption to the Switch 2.

What’s interesting about the two job listings is that the ‘Lead Programmer’ will be working on a “high profile project, which is a full art remaster of a much-loved title.” More interesting is the ‘Principal Low-Level Graphics Programmer’ listing that says “help architect, implement, and steer the technical vision for our next-generation custom graphics engine.” One of the requirements for the job is “Extensive experience working with modern console platforms, and bonus points for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.”

While this is in no way a confirmation of GTA 6 being ported over to the Switch 2, some signs do point towards it. Also, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a GTA 6 port for the Switch 2. Last month, French retailer Cdiscount accidentally leaked a GTA 6 Switch 2 version. On the other hand, a former Rockstar developer had also mentioned last month that bringing GTA 6 to the Switch 2 wouldn’t make sense, as it would be a subpar experience.

The job listings could even be for the Red Dead Redemption 2 port for the Switch 2. That one is more certain, as a credible leaker has maintained that the port is still happening.
