One of my daily meditations this past week reminded how we must listen to our bodies.
To heed, not ignore, what it is telling us.
So, during the zzzzzzzzzzzzer of a second half of U of L’s meh 34-26 win at Syracuse, I didn’t.
I found my eyes blinking shut.
My head kept wanting to lean back into the pillow cushion of my recliner.
Always attempting to stay in touch with professionalism, I fought with myself whether to fight back against what my body was saying.
Body 1, Professionalism Nil.
The interlude started late in the 3d, the tally same as at halftime.
Cards 28, Orange 23.
I nodded awake during U of L’s missed PAT after Kejuan Brown’s 4th Q TD, Louisville’s only points after intermission.
‘Cuse had kicked a FG during my nap.
Nothing of consequence to report about the last 7:34 of this one.
On a day of college pigskin as exciting and remarkable as any in memory, Louisville and Syracuse earned participation trophies.
They played.
That’s about it.
For Diehards only.
Not especially proud of slip sliding away for a bit, but not going to apologize.
It was far from an inappropriate response to this snoozer.

U of L got off to another of its patented boffo starts.
Three and out.
Syracuse FG.
Lincoln Kienholz pick on the fifth play of Cards’ following possession.
Syracuse TD on a 41 yard strike from peripatetic — Southern Cal > Boise State > UTEP > upstate NY — Malachi Nelson to wide open Umari Hatcher.
10-0 Home Team.
Then, in what could pass for a reasonably interesting football game, the teams went back and forth.
Five lead changes before the halftime show.
In a fit of cuteness, I texted a peep, “A veritable back and forth donnybrook.

Both offenses eviscerated their opponent’s defense in the opening thirty minutes.
Cards 367 yards of O.
Syracuse: 302.
In the 2d, U of L’s was as somnambulant as your scribe.
58 yards.
The Orange tripled that but couldn’t take advantage.
On a day when schools across the landscape were trading haymakers, Louisville and Syracuse were gifting takeaways.
Three consecutive in the 3d. (I was still awake.)
Fumble. Interception. Interception.
After surviving this Battle of the Bumbling, U of L moves beyond .500 to 4-3.
Open Date awaits.
