ITCZ to bring rains, thunderstorms over much of PH on Sunday

MANILA, Philippines — The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, the Bicol Region, Romblon and Palawan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sunday.

Possible flash floods or landslides are likely in these areas due to moderate to, at times, heavy rains, Pagasa warned in its 4 a.m. bulletin.

Pagasa also said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms, which may also trigger flash floods or landslides during severe weather conditions.

As of 2 a.m., no low-pressure areas were being monitored for tropical cyclone formation, it added.

Meanwhile, moderate winds from the northeast will prevail over extreme Northern Luzon, with coastal waters ranging from moderate to rough at 1.5 to 2.5 meters.
