If you’re a PC gamer waiting to experience Grand Theft Auto 6, there is one question that has been on your mind: when will GTA 6 be on PC? Well, the game is still listed for only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. But reports suggest a PC port may arrive earlier than expected. With that in mind, we have compiled all GTA 6 PC release date statements, rumors, and leaks. This will give you a realistic outlook on when you can expect to play GTA 6 on your computer.
Will GTA 6 Be on PC at Launch?
Here’s your answer: GTA 6 is not coming to PC at launch.
Currently, Rockstar’s official website lists GTA 6 only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, with a release date of November 19, 2026.

Rockstar has not officially announced the PC version yet. However, a GTA 6 PC release is widely expected soon after the console rollout.
In fact, the company’s game release history makes a PC version highly likely. So, until Rockstar announces the PC port for GTA 6 officially, any dates circulating online for the same should be treated as pure speculation.
What Is the Speculated GTA 6 Release Date for PC?
There is currently no official GTA 6 PC release date.
But according to a new GamesBeat report, which cites four credible sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans for GTA 6 coming to PC, we have a new PC release window.
Rockstar Games may target a Q1 2027 release window, meaning the GTA 6 PC release date will be sometime between January and March 2027.
Other recent rumors complement this report and suggest the GTA 6 PC version could release sooner due to the rapid rise in console prices. VGC editor-in-chief Andy Robinson said in September 2026 that there was a “bit of noise” suggesting Rockstar could push the PC version up and it might arrive earlier than expected.

Could GTA 6 Come to PC in 2026?
At this point, a GTA 6 PC release in 2026 looks unlikely. Rockstar is just two months away from the confirmed launch, and its website lists just the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles as the official GTA 6 supported platforms.
Realistically speaking, a surprise announcement seems nearly impossible, and PC players might have to wait until 2027 or later.
History of PC Ports for Previous Rockstar Games
If we’ve learned anything from Rockstar’s past grand escapades, it’s that patience is a virtue, especially for PC players. Think back to the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5. Consoles started the party in September 2013, but we PC fans had to wait until April 2015—a good year and a half!

Below, you can find how long it took for GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, and GTA IV to come out on PC.
| Game | Initial Release Date | PC Release Date |
|---|---|---|
| GTA 3 | October 22, 2001 | – |
| Max Payne 2 | October 14, 2003 | – |
| GTA Vice City | October 29, 2002 | May 1, 2003 |
| GTA San Andreas | October 26, 2004 | – |
| GTA 4 | April 29, 2008 | December 3, 2008 |
| Red Dead Redemption | May 18, 2010 | October 29, 2024 |
| Max Payne 3 | May 15, 2012 | May 29, 2012 |
| GTA 5 | September 17, 2013 | April 14, 2015 |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 26, 2018 | November 5, 2019 |
Personally, I don’t think Rockstar will take too long to make GTA 6 for PC. Going by previous data, we can see that PC gamers had to wait a maximum of 9 months for the GTA 4 release on PC.
Speaking of GTA 5, the game was first made for PS3 and Xbox 360. Then, it was made for PS4, and then the PC version came almost two years later.
The latest example, Red Dead Redemption 2, is a suitable one for reference, as its PC version came after 13 months. Although the above timelines for Rockstar’s PC ports may seem long, the company will definitely not keep a huge chunk of their community waiting.
That said, we should assume that we might be able to drive through the streets of Leonida on the GTA 6 map on our PCs in early 2027.

Can You Play GTA 6 on PC Through Xbox?
This could have been one of the biggest GTA 6 PC stories and a big win for Xbox, but ultimately, it was one of the messiest reports.
A report from The Verge claimed that Microsoft had secured the streaming rights that could allow you to play GTA 6 through Xbox Cloud Gaming when it launches on November 19, 2026.
For PC players, this sounded like a potential loophole because there is no PC port at the moment, but they still got a way to play the game on a computer. But then Xbox CSO Matthew Ball had to post an official response on X, confirming that was not the case. The Verge’s reporting was, well, incorrect, and Ball stated that the game would not be streaming exclusively to PC.
Understand that with cloud gaming, the game runs on remote hardware and is streamed to your device. A native GTA 6 PC version would actually need to be installed and run on your PC. So, it is not confirmed to be on your computer at launch.
Given the significant presence of PC gaming in the market as of 2026, GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games cannot ignore the considerable demand within the industry (and community).
However, early 2027 seems to be the most reasonable year to discuss a potential GTA 6 PC release, but it is not confirmed yet.
While this might be speculation, the game will ultimately come to PC, although not when it is initially released worldwide. Even Take-Two’s CEO is considering an updated PC strategy due to the consoles becoming commercially unviable over time.

So, will GTA 6 reach our PCs in 2027? Only Rockstar’s official announcement can confirm it. For now, the historical release pattern, logical development considerations, and even some intriguing industry chatter all point toward a first quarter of 2027 arrival.
The wait might feel like navigating Los Santos traffic during rush hour, but the potential payoff is huge: enhanced graphics, unlocked frame rates, and the glorious world of PC mods (maybe a GTA 6 metaverse). The wait will undoubtedly be worth it. Keep those rigs ready; Vice City in GTA 6 might be hitting our PC screens sooner than you think!
