Fabian Hurzeler has called Florian Wirtz an 'incredible player' and has warned Brighton must stop the Liverpool midfielder 'as a team'.
Wirtz has endured a difficult adaption to thePremier League at Anfield, but has shown flashes of form in recent weeks.
The 23-year-old has recorded goal involvements in three straight games, including a first goal of the season against Villarreal in midweek.
Hurzeler knows his compatriot well from their time in the Bundesliga, where Wirtz was twice named Player of the Season, and said Brighton will devise a plan to limit his impact.
The Seagulls make the trip to Liverpool on Sunday, aiming to secure a fifth consecutivePremier League win.
Asked about Wirtz at hispre-match press conference, Hurzeler said: "I'm excited to see my playmaker [Pascal Gross], not their playmaker!
"Wirtz, of course, is an incredible player. It's impressive what he has done in his young career and I think he is adapting more and more to the Premier League.
"It's always a joy to see these kind of players but it is important for us to stop him and not stop him in one v one situation because he will be too good.
"We have to stop him as a team. Liverpool is not only Wirtz, they have a lot of other individual quality. It will be a lot about our team performance.
"We can still improve our performances because we have to lift our levels. We not only have to maintain standards, we have to lift them."
