Thousands of supporters of President Bola Tinubu on Friday staged a solidarity march through Kaduna ahead of Saturday’s All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off, pledging to mobilise voters nationwide for his re-election in 2027.
The procession, organised by the Presidential Campaign Council’s Support Groups Mobilisation Directorate, took participants through major parts of the state capital in a show of support for the President and the ruling party.
Led by the Director of the Support Groups Mobilisation Directorate, Silas Ali Agara, the march began around the Savannah Bank area and proceeded to the Kaduna State Government House, where Governor Uba Sani received the delegation before participants returned to the APC Ciki da Waje State Secretariat.
Kaduna was adorned with APC flags and campaign materials, while supporters engaged in drumming, dancing and other activities to demonstrate their support for Tinubu ahead of the rally scheduled for Saturday, October 24, at the Kaduna Township Stadium.
The mobilisation came as campaign officials expressed confidence in their nationwide support structure, with Agara claiming that the directorate had about 10,000 support groups across the country.
Speaking during the exercise, Agara said the march was intended to demonstrate the commitment of the groups to Tinubu’s re-election campaign and their readiness to mobilise supporters across the country.
“We want to show Mr President that Nigerians love him, the people of Kaduna State love him, and the youth of this country love him,” he said.
He described the Kaduna procession as the beginning of a wider mobilisation drive that would be replicated in other states scheduled to host the President during the campaign.
Agara urged members of the support groups to strengthen their coordination and grassroots engagement, adding that their responsibility went beyond participating in rallies and processions.
He said the groups would engage citizens and communicate the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration ahead of the elections.
Governor Uba Sani, who received the delegation, commended the organisers for their mobilisation efforts and urged supporters to sustain their engagement with residents.
He said the President’s administration had introduced reforms aimed at addressing Nigeria’s challenges and laying the foundation for sustainable development.
“Kaduna State will support President Tinubu and vote massively for him in recognition of his achievements,” the governor said.
He urged the supporters to remain peaceful and united while mobilising residents ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who serves as secretary of the North-West support group structure, commended participants for turning out for the exercise.
Goronyo urged Nigerians to support the President, citing what he described as the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, water supply, education and healthcare.
The North-West Coordinator of the Support Group Directorate, Dr Baffa Babba Dan’Agundi, said the mobilisation was part of efforts to demonstrate the readiness of support groups in states where Tinubu would hold campaign engagements.
He said the directorate was working to ensure that members participated actively in the nationwide campaign.
Other personalities present included former Niger State Deputy Governor, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso; former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu; Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi; and campaign officials Tosin Adeyanju and Tosin Shoga.
The campaign flag-off is expected to attract APC governors, party leaders, campaign officials and supporters from across the country as the ruling party begins its mobilisation for the 2027 presidential election.
