The Milwaukee Brewers got themselves into a sticky situation with a promotion from 2015.
Back then, the Brewers offered a promotion called the “Timeless Ticket” that allowed buyers to redeem their $1,000 ticket for any upcoming game in the future — including the World Series.
Given the last time the Brewers reached the World Series was in 1982, “Timeless Ticket” holders were eager to attend the first two games of Milwaukee’s best-of-seven series against the Tampa Bay Rays, which begins Friday, Oct. 23.
The team’s president of operations, Rick Schlesinger, said hundreds of fans were looking to redeem their “Timeless Ticket” for one of the two World Series games in Milwaukee. Although they were able to find seats for all fans, some are still disappointed over their placement in the stadium.

Schlesinger admitted the organization “subsequently erred in our internal communications on the logistics of fulfilling the requests.”
He explained that the Brewers were “able to accommodate all with seats,” however, they “received feedback from some that they were unhappy with their seat locations.”
“Clearly, even with extraordinary limitations on available seats, we did not live up to the spirit of the program, and we have been working through a resolution,” Schlesinger continued.
In an attempt to make it right, the Brewers will offer “Timeless Ticket” holders who requested World Series tickets their original seats at Games 1 and 2, as well as the opportunity to redeem another game ticket in any future season. “We regret our mistake and look forward to welcoming them to American Family Field for their World Series experience,” Schlesinger said.
One fan named Danny Fochesato told ESPN he was disappointed because the original promotion said tickets “may be redeemed for the best available seat locations, subject to ticket availability at the time of redemption.”

Fochesato said, “Back in 2015, that was a big selling point from the salespeople about this. They really touted, ‘Hey, this is going to be the best available seats. You’re getting the priority just behind season-ticket holders. Anything the season-ticket holders don’t have, you’ll have dibs at it for the World Series.’ That’s kind of the story they sold.”
Game 1 between the Brewers and Rays begins at 8 p.m. ET on Friday.
