A couple endured moments of sheer terror on Sunday night when their Porsche was rammed by another vehicle in Torres Vedras, leading to a violent confrontation with five men, at least one of whom was armed with a gun.
According to reports, this was a targeted attack. The couple had until recently run an “establishment of diversion” in Golegã – and the intention of their assailants will have been to rob them.
The nightmare began at around 11pm as the pair was travelling in their Porsche Panamera, presumably on the way home to their residence in the Lisbon area. The car was rammed at a roundabout near Riachos, causing the driver to stop the vehicle, whereupon he was threatened at gunpoint, and forced to get inside the assailants’ vehicle, leaving his wife in the front seat of the Porsche, now in possession of one of the assailants.
The cars then moved off in the direction of Torres Vedras, the idea being, writes Correio da Manhã, to take the A23 and go on to the couple’s home.
Five kilometres on, the man in the assailants’ car takes advantage of a break in speed at a roundabout near TorreShopping to exit the vehicle, landing badly, but well enough to seek help from people gathered in a nearby café.
This will have been the ‘saving grace’ of the couple, as the woman was left a few kilometres further on, beside the road, unharmed, as the assailants made off, with the damaged Porsche still in their possession.
PJ police are currently trying to understand the motive behind this crime, but it all points to the couple’s former business in Golegã.
At time of writing, the Porsche remained in ‘parts uncertain’.
