Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow appeared less than enthused about Vice President JD Vance’s visit to the team’s practice on Wednesday.
After attending several events in the area, Vance, an Ohio native and Bengals fan, made an impromptu stop at the football team’s practice facility. Based on videos posted to social media, it did not go well.
One video from inside the facility showed several players walking past Vance and barely acknowledging him. Only one player, tight end Drew Sample, stopped to shake Vance’s hand.

After Vance’s visit, a reporter asked Burrow if he and the vice president had a chance to meet. The star quarterback’s answer was, as one commenter on social media described it, a “very polite ‘**** that guy.’”
“Vice President Vance was here at practice today; did y’all get a chance to interact at all?” the reporter asked.

“We did not, we did not; he came with everybody and left with swiftness and efficiency before the end of practice, so I didn’t get to,” Burrow said.
Burrow was then asked what his reaction was to Vance’s presence.
“Yeah, a lot of people, a lot of people around. You know, that’s what I love about what I do is it brings a lot of people together, and people want to take time out of their day to come and watch what we do, watch what I do, and watch all the work that I’ve put in to come and watch greatness,” Burrow said.

Burrow’s comments quickly went viral on social media, with many surmising he was indifferent to Vance, while others suggested his answer showed contempt for the vice president.
Although not much is known about Burrow’s political beliefs, he has spoken out about police brutality and abortion rights in the past. However, Burrow was seen chatting with President Donald Trump at a UFC event in March 2024, alongside fellow NFL player and fierce Trump supporter Nick Bosa.
